How Important is Security to K-12 Administrators?

A new survey by Cisco Systems found that nearly a quarter of K-12 administrators are very likely to invest in physical security and notification services over the next year, while 32 percent were somewhat likely to make the same investments. Among school IT professionals, 13 percent were very likely and 32 percent were somewhat likely.

The survey of 600 K–12 administrators and IT leaders also asked respondents to rate a number of administrative, strategic and technology-related issues on a scale of one to 10, with 10 signifying that an issue is of the highest importance to their institutions. Here are the mean ratings given to various security issues by administrators and IT leaders:

Overall, K-12 administrators and IT professionals are interested in increasing security in their schools.
