Leaks Suggest a New Instagram AI Chatbot is Coming Soon

It seems like every passing day comes with an announcement of a new AI-powered ‘something’. Recent examples include TikTok’s AI chatbot “Tako” and Snapchat’s “My AI” tool. Now, Instagram has revealed that they are contemplating the idea of incorporating a chatbot into their popular social platform.

Alessandro Paluzzi, a mobile developer and leaker of this type of information, claimed Tuesday that an AI-powered Instagram chatbot is coming soon and will be able to answer questions, give advice and offer assistance to users with writing their messages.

Another feature of the chatbot is that users would be able to choose from one of thirty AI personalities. Earlier in the year, Mark Zuckerberg announced that Instagram parent company Meta was working to “develop AI personas that can help people in a variety of ways,” making the idea of personas within Instagram AI a real possibility.

As of the writing of this post, Instagram has yet to confirm or deny that AI chatbots are on the horizon.

However, to stay relevant in today’s AI-heavy tech culture, it wouldn’t surprise us if in the not too distant future an Instagram AI chatbot is rolled out to users for testing soon.

In addition to TikTok, Snapchat introduced a feature called “My AI” in February that uses ChatGPT to answer questions and to use in chats with human friends – despite heavy criticism from users.

Though it appears that Instagram is still deciding whether or not to incorporate an AI chatbot into its platform, I think it’s safe to assume they’ll at least get something into a developmental phase in an effort to compete in the space.
