A new feature is now available on Instagram that will helps its users identify phishing emails that are designed to look like they are coming from the social media platform. In a tweet, the social media giant announced that the feature would verify whether an email that is claiming to be from Instagram, in fact, is one that originated from them.

To take advantage of the new feature, users of the social media platform should navigate to the security tab of their settings. From there, there will be an option called “Emails from Instagram” that users can select. When a user selects this menu option, the app will show all of the security related emails that were sent to that particular user in the last 14 days.

By taking advantage of this feature, users are proactively taking measures to secure their account.  Other measures that can be taken include picking a strong password, using two-factor authentication, and logging out of the app on a device that is not their own.
