Elon Musk Names New Twitter CEO
Elon Musk has announced Linda Yaccarino, chairman of global advertising and partnerships at NBCUniversal, as Twitter’s new CEO.
Musk made the announcement Friday afternoon, months after announcing that we was planning on stepping away from the role.
In his tweet announcing the decision, Musk expressed his excitement to work with Yaccarino to transform Twitter into “X”, his vision of “the everything app.”
Earlier on Friday, Yaccarino announced her departure from NBCUniversal.
“It has been an absolute honor to be part of Comcast NBCUniversal and lead the most incredible team. We’ve transformed our company and the entire industry,” she said in her statement.
Linda will have a lot to focus on as she transitions into her new role, such as an advertiser exodus, service disruptions, and a growing list of rivals.
Despite stepping away from the CEO position, Musk clarified that he would still serve as Twitter’s executive chairman, CTO and owner – likely indicating that Musk will still have a significant control and impact on how the company progresses into the future.
